Prof. Dr. Imre Gerlinger

Prof. Dr. Imre Gerlinger is a distinguished Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist and a Professor at the Department of Ear, Nose & Throat and Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pécs. With a PhD and the prestigious title of Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, he is a leading expert in his field, combining clinical excellence with academic leadership. A prolific author, Prof. Gerlinger has written several influential books, including Histories of Ear, Nose and Throat (2012), Symptom-Oriented Otolaryngology (2013), Ear Mosaics (2016) and Otorhinolaryngology Scratches (2018). His contributions extend beyond Hungary, with memberships in prestigious international societies such as the American Academy of Otolaryngologists and the European Society of Otology (EAONO), where he served as Eastern European Secretary. He was also President of the Association of Hungarian Otorhinolaryngologists (2010-2014) and holds honorary memberships in Romanian, Czech and German ENT associations. His international experience includes research and clinical roles at Utrecht University (Netherlands), the University of Liverpool (UK), and as Head of Otolaryngology at the University of Nottingham (UK). He has also undertaken study trips and guest lectures worldwide, including in the USA, Dubai and across Europe. Prof. Gerlinger has been recognised with numerous awards, such as the Bishop Vilmos Award (2016), Cseresnyés Memorial Medal (2016), László Batthyány-Strattmann Award (2018) and the Géza Krepuska Award (2018), reflecting his outstanding contributions to medicine and otolaryngology. A dedicated educator, clinician and researcher, Prof. Gerlinger continues to shape the field of ENT through his expertise, publications and global collaborations.
